Ed Quigley’s Horse Racing Predictions: Best Picks for September 17, 2024

Ed Quigley, aka “Longshot Ted,” had a great run last week with a number of wins and is once again a prime bet heading into Tuesday’s race…

Ted’s picks of the week for September 17, 2024:

Check out our predictions below for the day’s racing on Tuesday, September 17th: Bet on the races at the best expert-rated horse racing betting site.

  • Yarmouth 4.05 – Each floatsteeth – Bet BetMGM
  • Yarmouth 5.05 – Thunder Star each wteeth – Bet V Bet

Brighton 3.50 – Saint-Riquier

Saint-Riquier He was thoroughly outgunned in his harness win at Leicester Racecourse last week and will need a serious beating if he returns in the same form. The Ian Williams-trained six-year-old was rated 128 over small obstacles in his prime and was never a weak horse over hurdles, but he has stepped up a level and looks rejuvenated.

Joe Reavy has been catching the attention of many with his excellent riding recently and the young jockey will be riding again. Saint-Riquier is available without penalty for this race after being injured in last week’s Apprentice race. The distance and ground should be perfect for him and this combination should once again prove difficult to pass.

Yarmouth 4.05 – Each floatsteeth

So far, it has been a winless year. SurfacingHowever, with an improved performance when she took second place at Brighton last week, there are signs this filly is ready to win again.

The evidence suggests she has turned things around after a slump and, what’s noteworthy, is that she’s now back at a track where she has two wins from two starts over that course and distance. She got the job done in two visits here last year and this form would make her well suited to a return to the Class 4 event here.

She is so versatile in terms of underfoot conditions that the weather is unlikely to have a major impact on her performance, and with Callum Sheppard jockeying for the Ray Guest team, it would be no surprise to see this daughter of Sea The Moon back in the winners’ box for the first time since last year.

Yarmouth 5.05 – Thunder Star each wteeth

Thunder Star The horse has not been in top form recently but a return to this track could inspire her. The four-year-old boasts an unbeaten record with two wins from two starts over both courses and distances and her return to this track should be taken seriously.

Jessica Macy’s horse likes the ground to be open so any rain will boost the daughter of Night Of Thunder who handles those conditions better than most. Thunder Star didn’t run badly overall when she finished seventh at Haydock 11 days ago. It was her first race in 76 days so she’s probably just had to work on her arches and will be in better shape for that race.

Accessor is also starting to get kinder and from a purely handicap point of view this filly looks very well handled. Her last win was 12 months ago in this race when she landed at a BHA mark of 76 but she races here at 1lb less weight. This has been an aim for some time and she could make a big breakthrough as an each-way player.
